BEDFORD, Ind. — A southern Indiana charity is planning to deliver an ambulance to a hospital in the central American country of Honduras.
The ambulance has been donated by St. Vincent Dunn Hospital of Bedford to Capstone Ministries of Mitchell.
Capstone Ministries board president Allen Burris tells the Times-Mail that the group plans to deliver the ambulance to village hospital in Honduras later this month.
Burris says even though the ambulance has been driven 190,000 miles it is still useable and will be a big improvement for the poor area. He says many people in the area are now transported in the back of pickup trucks to hospitals.
Capstone Ministries previously sent to Honduras an ambulance that had been retired by Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
