Ambulance destroyed, firefighter treated for smoke inhalation

DEFIANCE, Ohio — An ambulance caught fire while parked in a fire station apparatus bay in Defiance, Ohio, on Tuesday.

The ambulance was destroyed and one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

The vehicle had been plugged into a battery to recharge when it caught fire, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, Ind.

A nearby police department and municipal offices were evacuated during the fire.
