MANCHESTER, England — A drunk patient beat a paramedic unconscious in the back of an ambulance while being taken to hospital today.
The victim, an emergency medical technician, was punched repeatedly and ‘thrown’ across the ambulance in the early morning attack. The patient, who had just been picked up after a 911 call, fled out of the back of the ambulance.
The ambulance continued on to hospital where the paramedic was treated and it is understood has since been discharged. A 28-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and remains in custody. The ambulance crew was called at 4am this morning to reports of a man lying intoxicated on the floor at an address in Salford, Greater Manchester.
