FORT WORTH, Texas — An ambulance-turned-party bus is now illegal in the state of Texas.
KERANews.org reported that the “Slambulance,” an ambulance converted into a party bus, is no longer legal after Gov. Greg Abbott signed HB1249 into law.
Launched five years ago, the Slambulance is outfitted with a stripper pole, neon interior lights and full wet bar. They are advertised as a rolling nightclub for graduation, prom, bachelor and bachelorette parties and for tailgating.
Paramedics at MedStar in Fort Worth celebrated the new bill; they said the ambulances often confused the public.
The law will take effect Sept. 1.
