GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An ambulance merging onto US-131 set off a chain-reaction accident. One of the vehicles involved went over a guardrail and landed near a creek.
A car traveling south on the highway saw the ambulance with its lights on merging onto the highway at Burton Street. The car slowed down to let the ambulance merge. A street-sweeping truck behind the car rear-ended it. The car was pushed in front of the ambulance, which hit the car.
The truck went over the guardrail, rolled three times, and ended up near Plaster Creek.
