BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A 27-year-old man, his 2-year-old nephew and their dog were struck by a pickup truck and killed during an evening walk on an Ill. road.
Pedro Guerrero was pushing his nephew, Alejandro, in a stroller with the family dog by his side, when the pickup hit the three, throwing the man and dog into a ditch and the stroller several feet up the road, Phantagraph reports.
Medics immediately rushed the toddler to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His uncle was died at the scene.
A bicyclist found the victims, called responders, and began CPR on the unresponsive man. During this time the driver of the van returned to scene, remaining in the area to talk with police. He was not injured.
