COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man who told police he was attacked and set on fire is being treated in serious but stable condition Monday after being rescued on the ice near a bridge with burn injuries and hypothermia.
Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesperson Ashley Franco said a community response medicine unit responded to a passerby’s call at a bridge near Beacon Street and West Van Buren Street around 11:30 a.m., finding a man lying on the ice near the water.
Franco said the CMED called for a heavier medical response and the man was brought to an area hospital for his injuries, which included signs of burns.
A Colorado Springs Police blotter entry said that the man claimed he had been “assaulted and set on fire.” A police spokesperson said that officers were investigating the incident.
