BURLINGTON, Wash. — Fifty paramedics, firefighters and athletes participated in a CrossFit competition to raise money for charity Saturday.
Paramedic and gym co-owner Joel Pratt told the Skagit Valley Herald the proceeds will benefit Operation Warm, which raises money to buy coats for children in need, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Pratt said the children’s hospital is of particular importance to him. Last year, when his daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, that’s where she received treatment.
The event was organized by Mount Baker CrossFit, Skagit County Paramedics Local 3427 and Burlington Professional Firefighters Local 4111.
Paramedic Charlie Damron, who competed Saturday, said he was impressed with the response from CrossFit athletes who participated in the competition from around the county and region.
