ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Fire Department and a local gym raised $104,000 for an injured firefighter.

KTUU.com reported that firefighter Ben Schultz, 29, was injured during a training exercise in June. He was found on the ground behind an aerial ladder apparatus. He’s currently recovering in a Colorado hospital.

“Our family is just floored and ecstatic,” Schultz’s father, Jeff, told KTVA. “It’s just beautiful.”

The fundraiser included live music, silent and live auctions, burgers and hot dogs, and a beer and wine garden.

The money will be used to pay for Schultz’s medical and travel expenses.
