LEXINGTON, Ky. — It’s been several months since Jessamine County paramedic John Mackey was killed on the job.
“He was a one of a kind, he lived live to the fullest and he lived life the way he wanted to live it.” John Mackey’s father, Joe Kinney, said.
To continue to help Mackey’s family get by, Nicholasville Firefighters Association leaders sold raffle tickets with a pair of emergency personnel boots as the grand prize. Nicholasville Firefighters Association leaders sold nearly 300 tickets to the drawing totaling about $750. Even with John Mackey gone, his legacy to help people lives on in the form of the “John Mackey Bill.”
