FORT WAYNE, Ind — Four firefighters with the Fort Wayne Fire Department went to clear an elderly man’s driveway and their good deed has gone viral. It all started when a neighbor snapped a picture and posted it on Facebook. Mr. Slack wouldn’t go on camera, but he says he’ll be 94 in May, and admits that clearing his driveway is getting a bit too difficult for him.
A few weeks ago, World War II veteran Mr. Slack, was out snow blowing his driveway when he collapsed from fatigue. He was found at the end of his driveway not in great shape. So when neighbors saw the heavy snow, they immediately thought of him.
Neighbor Heather Eracleous says, “When I woke up this morning and saw how much snow there was, my first thought actually was my neighbor, and ‘Oh my gosh, how am I going to get over there and plow him out.’ A few minutes later, a familiar sight. Eracleous says, “A fire truck pulls up, and I thought oh geez he went out and did it again.”
