A ceremony at the state Capitol today will recognize Oklahoma’s emergency medical service workers.
The ceremony will recognize their commitment to provide lifesaving, emergency care, ensuring health, protection and physical well being of Oklahoma communities.
The event is at 11:30 a.m. on the South Plaza.
Special recognition will be given to the family of paramedic/firefighter Destry Horton, who died earlier this year after suffering severe burns fighting a wildfire.
Recognition also will be given to the emergency service organizations that helped evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina Rita at Camp Gruber and Falls Creek.
Wadley’s EMS in Purcell and McClain-Grady EMS of Blanchard will be among those recognized.
Group opens new Web site BLANCHARD — The Blanchard Public Schools Education Foundation has a new Web site to better inform the public of the foundation, its purpose and ways to support Blanchard Public Schools.
It is www.BPSEF.org.
The nonprofit, independent organization distributes donations from individuals and businesses for the benefit of students in Blanchard Public Schools.
The foundation gives out college scholarships and teacher grants annually.
