Battery of a health care provider is a Class D felony. Sadly, violence has become a part of the job when ambulance crews answer a call for help.
According to an affidavit, 28-year-old Jeffrey Payne had fallen down drunk in front of Someplace Else early Sunday morning and began yelling and swearing when police arrived. When an ambulance got there, police say, Payne accused a paramedic of being a cop and kicked him in the shin.
Lee Turpen, AMR clinical coordinator, says, “It’s very hard to gauge every time a person is going to suddenly become violent and strike out at us.” ... Full Story
