Harvard Scholarship Application Process Details

WASHINGTON — The IAEMSC with the sponsorship of ADPI/Intermedix Incorporated has secured a seat at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program each summer. This program allows one EMS executive to attend the program without cost to him/her or their EMS organization. The scholar’s department is responsible for granting the individual the time to attend the twenty-one day residency program in either June or July of each summer.

Applicants must be IAEMSC members in good standing with all dues paid and current through December 31, 2009. Applicant must have obtained at a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Applications will be accepted via email at ADPI-Harvardscholarship@IAEMSC.org from March 26, 2009 till April 26, 2009.

Applicants must email the following documents (in PDF format) to the above address by twelve midnight Eastern Time on April 26, 2009 to be considered:

  • Complete Curriculum Vitae.
  • Letter of Acceptance from applicant’s supervising official agreeing to grant the applicant the time to attend the program if applicant is successful.
  • Three letters of reference which must specifically address:
    1) Contributions to the local community.
    2) Capability as an EMS leader and manager.
    3) The EMS executive’s integrity and commitment to public service.
  • Applicant’s essay of not more than 500 words addressing their vision for improving EMS on a national level. Applicants will be notified on or about May 15, 2009 of the IAEMSC’s Board of Directors decision. All IAEMSC’s Board of Directors are ineligible for this scholarship while seated as a board member. All application materials become the property of the IAEMSC.
