ESCAMBRIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida paramedic who claimed he’d been shot at an EMS staging post has admitted the wound was self-inflicted.
Brandon Richie, of Escambia County, told police Wednesday that he made up the story, according to NorthEscambia.com.
It follows an incident on Jan. 28 when officers were dispatched to a report that Richie had been shot in the shoulder.
He told police he was getting an item from inside his ambulance when someone tapped him on the back and then shot him, the website reported.
Police are now applying for an arrest warrant on Richie for “false reports to law enforcement authorities.”
No other details on the case have been released.
