Police: Man steals ambulance to get out of the cold

A background check revealed suspect had a felony warrant for escaping out of the Colorado Department of Corrections

LONGMONT, Colo. — Medics were forced to request a backup ambulance after their ambulance was stolen while they were treating a fall patient.

Police later recovered the ambulance about six blocks away and arrested a man at the scene. Robert Taylor, 51, faces charges including aggravated motor vehicle theft, driving under the influence and revocation of parole.

During his arrest, he told police he stole the ambulance as he was cold, according to 9News.

Police said Taylor was unsteady on his feet, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

A background check revealed Taylor had a felony warrant for escaping out of the Colorado Department of Corrections, according to the article.
