ALBANY, N.Y. — A city official is under fire after criticizing EMTs for how they parked in a Facebook post.
CBS 6 reported that Albany Common Council member Judy Doesschate posted a photo of two Mohawk Ambulance EMTs inside of a store, along with a photo of their ambulance parked outside.
“So what does anyone else think about Mohawk Ambulance deciding to double park in front of Stewart’s to make a purchase?” the Facebook post said.
The post was met with comments supporting the EMTs and anger over Doesschate’s negative remarks.
A Facebook group was also created calling for Doesschate’s resignation.
Mohawk Ambulance president James McPartlon issued a statement in response to Doesschate’s comments, and said that “employees are instructed to have their emergency service vehicles readily accessible at all times, in the event that they are dispatched to a call that requires their immediate departure.”
McPartlon added that the ambulance company “regrets that they were falsely depicted in a negative manner.”
