FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth’s MedStar Mobile Healthcare headquarters is exercising caution after their emergency vehicles and facility were hit by severe weather in March.
On March 17, the company’s headquarters was hit hard by a massive hail storm that dumped tennis ball-sized hail, NBCDFW.com reported. Most of the vehicles in the parking lot suffered dents and shattered glass.

MedStar said 11 ambulances and support vehicles were totaled and several others are awaiting repair. Their facility also suffered major roof and siding damage.
“The damage assessments for the facilities and the vehicles are now, for us, about $2.5 million,” Public Affairs Director Matt Zavadski said. “So what we’re estimating, it was about $210,000 a minute that that hail was falling.”
Zavadski said they still have vehicles to meet patient needs and the company has also implemented new weather policies. The company will hold drills to prepare to bring in vehicles into the indoor bays and hangar areas before severe weather hits.
