YORKSHIRE, England — A seven-year-old boy nearly died Sunday when two motorists would not let an ambulance pass them.
Jack Christmas, who suffers from Mowat-Wilson Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, started to have a seizure when his parents called for an ambulance, reported Metro.
While they waited for the ambulance to arrive, Jack’s parents administered “rescue” medicine to stop the seizure. However, the medicine also caused Jack’s heart rate to drop, leaving him with only a 10-minute time frame before his heart stopped.
“The first 10 minutes are crucial for my son and this wasted precious time in us being able to get him to the best people who can help him,” Tony Christmas said.
Luckily, Jack arrived at the hospital in time to be treated.
Jack’s father remarked that even though the ambulance’s lights and sirens were on, the two motorists did not move.
“When the ambulance finally managed to get past them, both drivers were laughing,” he said. “These idiots have no idea what they might have caused.”
