SURREY, England — A Surrey EMS provider suffered eye injuries after an object was thrown at his ambulance, shattering the windshield.
The incident occurred while transporting a patient to the hospital, BBC News reports.
His injuries were not life-threating and the crew continued to the hospital to seek medical treatment.
Security manager for the ambulance service, Steve Robotham said, “Any attack or threat of violence against our crews, who work to help and care for people in their communities, is taken extremely seriously.”
It remains unknown what was thrown at the vehicle and who is responsible for the attack.
