4 hurt when W.Va. ambulance overturns

Police say the driver of the ambulance possibly had a seizure before losing control; driver, two EMTs and patient taken to a hospital

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Authorities say four people have been injured after an ambulance overturned on the Route 460 in Bluefield.

WVVA-TV reports the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes near the Cumberland Road intersection.

Officials say the driver, two emergency medical technicians and a patient were on board the Mercy Ambulance Service vehicle. All four were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

The accident backed up traffic for miles.

The Bluefield Rescue Squad, Bluefield Fire Dept. and Bluefield Police Department responded to the crash.
