Fla. paramedic critically injured, patient killed in fall from ambulance

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A Florida man is dead and a paramedic is critically injured after both fell from a moving ambulance in Port St. Lucie on Aug. 16

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 70-year-old man died after he exited a moving ambulance, fell onto Interstate 95 and was run over by multiple vehicles, WPTV reported.

A paramedic was critically injured while trying to save him when he fell from the ambulance while trying to stop the man.

The paramedic was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The St. Lucie County Fire District told TC Palm that the ambulance was not from their department.
