HYDE COUNTY, N.C. — Hyde County, North Carolina, is preparing to launch a new emergency response initiative that will use flight-trained paramedics in FAA Part 103-compliant light electric vertical takeoff and landing ultralight vehicles.

Officials say the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office EMS Division program marks a first-of-its-kind effort to deliver emergency care more quickly by deploying paramedics directly to patients when time is critical.
