ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — A child who went into cardiac arrest in August after choking on food met his rescuers on Sept. 16

Anne Arundel County fire communications personnel provided CPR instructions to the child’s parents, who began resuscitation before firefighters and paramedics arrived. Crews continued treatment, and the child regained consciousness and was stabilized before Maryland State Police Aviation Command flew the child to a hospital.

The child later reunited with several of the responders. The firefighters, paramedics and 911 call taker involved in the response received Gift of Life awards.
