This week’s Photo of the Week comes from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), showing the presentation of a memorial shadow box honoring veteran EMT Idris Bey, who died due to COVID-19 in April. The shadow box was presented at the FDNY EMS Academy by EMT Evan Sundquist, Station 20, and Firefighter Michael Zeffiro, Ladder 29, to Chief of the EMS Academy Cesar Escobar and Deputy Chief Kevin Kassidy.

Bey had served with the FDNY for 27 years, and for nearly two decades as an instructor at the EMS Academy. Prior to his assignment at the academy, he was assigned to Station 35, and was a responder to the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

The memorial shadow box includes a United States flag honoring Bey’s past military service, as well as the EMT Idris Bey Memorial Coin.
