ATLANTA — AmeriPro Health has been selected as Walton County’s dedicated interfacility transport provider, the company announced. Under the agreement, AmeriPro will handle thousands of medical transports each year, a move officials say will help Walton County Fire Rescue keep more 911 units available for emergencies within the county.
AmeriPro has deployed a seven-unit fleet in Walton County, five 24-hour ALS ambulances and two peak-time ALS units, staffed by 24 EMS professionals, with service now underway.

Developed with HCA Healthcare, the agreement has AmeriPro handling transfers among HCA Twin Cities, HCA Fort Walton–Destin and HCA Florida West, plus freestanding EDs in Navarre and Destin, shifting an estimated 4,800 annual transports off county EMS, many involving long-distance transfers out of Walton County.
“Walton County has seen significant strain on its 911 system due to the sheer volume of out-of-county transports,” AmeriPro Health CEO Larry Richardson said. “By assuming responsibility for those transports, AmeriPro is helping county EMS providers keep their crews available for the most critical calls at home. At the same time, we’re bringing a proven, data-guided deployment model to strengthen the entire regional care network. This partnership aligns with our long-term vision for the Florida Panhandle, where we see a tremendous opportunity to bring consistent, high-performance medical transport services to a rapidly growing region.”
Walton County Fire Rescue has been balancing 911 and non-emergency transports, but frequent 20–40 mile transfers into neighboring counties have strained ambulance availability.
AmeriPro will take over interfacility moves and can assist with 911 calls as needed, providing monthly performance reports to county and HCA leaders.
