SOUTH BEND, Ind. — There have been six drug overdoses in the last week in St Joseph County. Three local fire departments had to give patients Narcan to combat heroin or other opiates.
Heroin has worsened over the last few years in St. Joseph County and does not appear to be slowing down.
Firefighters and paramedics tell WSBT 22 the number of overdoses peaks in these warm, summer months. The Clay Fire Department is one of many departments locally that has seen a rise in overdose calls.
