COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The governor is expected to sign a bill that would include PTSD coverage without a corresponding physical injury.
KHQ reported that Idaho Gov. Brad Little is expected to sign a bill that states first responders must have “clear and convincing evidence” of physiological injury to be covered for PTSD under workers comp.
For Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White, the inclusion of non-physical injuries is huge.
“It was chin up, macho, come back to work, don’t talk about these sorts of things,” he said, remembering how things used to be. “We’re doing a much better job in 2019 then we were in, say, 2006 or beyond in identifying PTSD issues or other stress-related injuries that an officer or firefighter may experience.”
Little is expected to sign the bill at a ceremony on March 12.
