EUTAW, Ala. — Greene County EMS may close for good at 6 p.m. Friday.

The agency sent a letter to the Alabama State Emergency Medical Services director this week, disclosing its inability to meet payroll, WIAT reported.

The agency had to borrow an ambulance from Livingston last year because three out of its four rigs were not running.

Interim Greene County EMS Director Zac Bolding said he has been contacting other officials to see if anything else can be done.

State EMS Director Jamie Gray said the state will try to make the transition to neighboring departments smooth.

“We want to do everything we can to help them, unfortunately, there’s not a lot we can do from the state level,” Gray said.
