ARLINGTON, Va. — Volunteers prepared July 16 for the National EMS Memorial Service’s Weekend of Honor, which will recognize 37 EMS professionals who died in the line of duty.

Ahead of the families’ arrival, volunteers unloaded two trailers, ironed and folded flags, polished memorial leaves and set up the event store.

Organizers said hundreds of volunteers contribute their time, money and expertise to ensure the honorees’ families, friends and colleagues know their loved ones will always be remembered.
