KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 24-year-old homeless man jumped off a cliff onto Interstate 35 early Thursday and lay wounded in the road for two hours, Kansas City police said.
The man told police he jumped about 2:30 a.m. and remained conscious and alert on the shoulder of the interstate near West 12th Street. He said he could not feel or move his legs, but he tried to crawl into a lane of traffic so vehicles would run him over.
Several drivers stopped to help him about 4:35 a.m. They called police and an ambulance. Police said he may have broken his back.
