Firefighter-medic Wayne Jeffers started his shift on Sunday and died later that morning

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A firefighter-medic died Sunday after being found unresponsive in his bunk, Firefighter Close Calls reported.

EMT Wayne Jeffers, with Haynes Ambulance services, started his shift and died later that morning. His partner found him unresponsive, according to the report.

EMT Jeffers was reportedly not feeling well and went to bed Sunday night after checking off his truck. His wife is also a medic with Haynes and was not at work, according to the report.

Jeffers is also a volunteer firefighter with South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department and is a former Marine, according to the report. His brother, Chuck, is a retired Lieutenant with Montgomery Fire/Rescue.
