NEW YORK — New York City has “flushed hundreds of millions of dollars down the toilet” on a 911 computer dispatch system that doesn’t work, firefighter union head Steve Cassidy charged Wednesday.
Cassidy, speaking to the Daily News during a massive labor rally outside City Hall, said the expensive upgrade of 911 software was another failed Bloomberg initiative.
“They had too many problems not to admit it,” Cassidy said. “The system doesn’t work. A little honesty, a little sunlight would be helpful,” said the union leader, who has challenged the FDNY in the past on the accuracy of its response-time data.
