EMS cutting service to 5 Texas cities

EAST TEXAS — An East Texas health system plans to cut EMS service to several cities in the region.

We have confirmed with East Texas Medical Center that on July 15, 2013, they will be ending service to the cities of Gladewater, Frankston, Van, Alto and Wells.

These cities join southern Cherokee County, which we told you about earlier this week. ETMC says those cuts are a part of a spending reduction plan put in place after cuts in reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
