Drunken man jailed after allegedly battling with firefighters

Arriving officers had to pepper spray and Taser the man to get him to calm down

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Firefighters and police officers had to Taser a drunken man who refused arrest and injured a cop.

Firefighters arrived at the scene Saturday night after neighbors called reporting that they heard a man trying to open a door only to find him unconscious at the doorstep, according to the Gazette.

“Upon arrival officers observed four firefighters holding down an intoxicated male, subsequently identified as 21-year-old Joshua Lance Perkins,” police said.

Officers handcuffed Perkins and brought him to the patrol car when he reportedly head-butted one of the officers, causing a minor injury.

After police wrestled Perkins into the car, Perkins began kicking out the windows until they arrived to the station.

Eventually officers had to use pepper spray on Perkins, who still wouldn’t calm down, forcing officers to Taser him. After being Tasered, Perkins complied and walked into a holding cell.

Perkins is being held in jail in lieu of a $10,000 bail.
