PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A Calif. BASE jumper awaited rescue for five hours after his parachute got tangled in a tree Monday night.
Raymond Alexander Arrieta, 26, was suspended from a tree below the Foresthill bridge, the tallest bridge in California and the fourth tallest in the nation, according to News10.
Arrieta dangled 731 feet above the American River North Fork as his friend called for help.
Cal Fire crews used a bulldozer to gain better access to the road and a boom truck to rescue Arrieta. He was uncomfortable in his harness but was uninjured.
Officials say the cost of the rescue is in the thousands of dollars and that Arrieta may be billed for it.
He was placed in jail on $2,000 bail and charged with a misdemeanor.
