PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Police say a Virginia man whose vehicle crashed head-on into an ambulance was wounded in a shooting before the collision.
Tysheek A. Spivey, 21, was extricated from his vehicle and died at the hospital on Monday, according to 13News Now. Officials say Spivey’s vehicle had turned into a Portsmouth Fire Rescue & Emergency Services station driveway as an ambulance was pulling out of the bay to respond to an emergency.
Two EMS providers in the rig were also treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The fire station was not damaged in the crash.
Portsmouth police are investigating the shooting and have not released information about any possible suspects or motives. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Portsmouth Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit or contact the department’s anonymous tip line.
