Passenger: Woman ‘wasn’t half-naked,’ EMTs did ‘nothing inappropriately’

Despite another passenger’s claim, Dave Sampsell said the woman was not unclothed

HENNEPIN COUNTY, Minn. — A second passenger has come forward and negated the claims that a partially-clothed woman was dragged from the back of a plane by EMS providers.

Star Tribune reported that passenger Dave Sampsell sent an email and said the rumored mistreatment of Theresa Hines, 48, was false.

“She was not half-naked,” Sampsell said. “Her pants were unfastened, but I saw nothing that any of the airline or EMT staff did inappropriately.”

American Airlines officials said the woman was wearing a shirt and underwear and was on a portable stretcher after possibly going into cardiac arrest.

“From our standpoint, everything was handled according to the textbook,” Airport spokesman Pat Hogan told the Associated Press.

“That’s baloney,” passenger Art Endress told the Star Tribune. Endress said EMTs stood behind Hines’ head and “dragged her down the aisle.”
