NJ volunteer EMT killed in vehicle crash

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A volunteer EMT died Wednesday after being involved in a vehicle crash.

NJ.com reported that Jeffrey Bergner, who worked as an emergency room technician at Capital Health Medical Center, was in his Jeep when another driver lost control of his vehicle and struck Bergner’s Jeep, ejecting him onto the road.

Bergner, a 28-year EMS veteran, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

“He was a guy who had a heart of gold,” Bergner’s sister, Tina, said.

Bergner was also a U.S. Army Reserve veteran and a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.

The crash is currently under investigation.
