HALIBURTON COUNTY, Ontario — A paramedic died Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash.

CBC.ca reported that paramedic George Eliadis, a deputy commander with Toronto Paramedic Services, and his partner, Shari Keyes-Williams, died after a vehicle struck a group of motorcyclists traveling down a highway.

Eliadis and Keyes-Williams were pronounced dead at the scene; two others were taken to the hospital.

“He’s a larger than life fellow. A wonderful human being as well as a consummate professional paramedic. He’s always willing to help out,” Toronto Paramedic Services spokesperson Kim McKinnon said. “George was a very senior person in charge of many of the premiere events in the City of Toronto. If you look under Pan Am Games, or Pride, or special operations, or working with Toronto police or fire, he would have been integrally involved over the 27 years he worked here.”

The crash is currently under investigation.
