Photo of the Week: Surprise drill for infectious disease transport

Members of Saint Francis EMS' infectious disease transport team suited up for a "no notice" practice exercise

Calling all EMS photographers! EMS1 wants to see pictures of you in action or training. Submit a photo — it could be selected as our Photo of the Week! Be sure to include your name, department information and some background on the photo.

This week's Photo of the Week comes from Saint Francis EMS (Wilmington, Del.), showing the infectious disease transport (IDT) team taking part in a surprise drill with the Delaware Office of EMS, Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and Beebe Healthcare Center. The IDT team is the only team in Delaware equipped to transport patients with highly infectious diseases, according to Saint Francis Healthcare.

EMS providers wore level III protective suits during the exercise. Officials said the "no notice" drill came just in time, as international health organizations were investigating the emerging threat of novel coronavirus
