In this week’s Inside EMS Podcast, hosts Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson discuss research from the CDC that says over two years, heroin overdose deaths have doubled, with an significant increase in 18- 25-year-olds. Cebollero has a friend whose daughter is addicted to heroin, and talks about the toll he sees it taking.

Cebollero and Grayson also discuss fatal incidents that involved people launching mortar-type fireworks by resting the tube on their body, and recent reports of fire departments falsifying training records. They explore allegations that officials in an Indiana county faked CPR, fire and EMT training records for years, and a Compton, Calif. fire chief who was placed on leave after AEDs were stripped from ambulances after an investigation revealed responders may not have proper training to use the equipment.
