NEW YORK — Who loves ya, baby? The FDNY.

The department celebrated Valentine’s Day Wednesday by putting out heartfelt public service announcements about candle and kitchen safety and the importance of CPR—all to a time-tested poem intro.

“Roses are red. Violets are blue. Cook your romantic dinner safely, so we don’t have to visit you,” two firefighters rhymed in one PSA as digitally produced hearts exploded behind them.

The poems won’t rival the works of Lord Byron, but the quick videos get their point across.

“Violets are blue. Roses are red. Careless smoking causes fires,” one firefighter points out.

“Never do it in bed,” another chimes in.

For those who plan to set the Valentine’s Day mood with candles, there’s this little earworm.

“Roses are red. Violets are blue. When it comes to candles, give them the attention they’re due.”

There’s also a PSA about space heaters and pet safety made in conjunction with the ASPCA.

“Roses are red. Violets are blue,” said two firefighters holding two small kittens. “Space heaters need space. Keep pets away too!”

The firefighters, EMTs and paramedics in the videos are pin-ups from the FDNY’s 2018 Calendar of Heroes, organizers said. The videos were taken over the last month.

“These are serious matters, but we wanted to have some fun with it,” an FDNY spokeswoman said Wednesday. “We want to reach all New Yorkers to keep New York safe—and their loved ones too.”

Just wait until Easter.

FDNY safety videos like these were viewed 166 million times last year across all of the department’s social media platforms, the spokeswoman said.
