STOCKTON, CA — A large and unruly crowd slowed paramedics response to a Stockton murder scene, according to police.
As 21-year-old Devondre Norwood lay dying from several gunshot wounds, an angry crowd confronted arriving police, forcing officers to call for backup and delaying the arrival of an AMR ambulance.
The shooting shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday happened near the 600 block of Oak Street in north central Stockton. "(Officers) were met by at least 30 people who were very hostile and uncooperative with them, basically wanting them to get out of the area,” Officer Joseph Silva said.
