OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. — An ambulance responding to a call in Island Beach State Park collided with a minivan that police say pulled into its path, injuring five people and closing the park’s main road for a few hours at midday today.
Although the ambulance overturned, its driver was not seriously hurt. He kicked out the windshield and went to help the people in the minivan, police said.
The accident happened about 11:15 a.m. as the TriBoro ambulance responded to a call of a possible heart attack on the beach in the park on the Ocean County shore.
