NASEMSO Will Develop Model State EMS Document for U.S.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Office of Emergency Medical Services (NHTSA) has contracted with the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) to develop a Model State Emergency Medical Services System (EMSS) document for the nation. The document includes a model state EMSS plan and self-assessment tool.

The NASEMSO has been working in coordination with NHTSA, state EMS officials and other EMS partners to review this EMSS Model Plan document as it has developed. Although the plan is managed by NASEMSO, this plan, and the final results, will be a collaborative effort with EMS stakeholders and Federal partners. NASEMSO members have been asked to review the current draft of “Model State Emergency Medical Services System: Model, Self-Assessment, Planning and Implementation.”

Download document here. Please send suggestions and changes by Dec. 7, 2007, to Kevin McGinnis, technical writer for this project.
