Ambulance-SUV wreck hospitalizes three N.C. EMTs

PITT COUNTY, N.C. — Five people were hospitalized and traffic on N.C. 11 was backed up and rerouted Saturday afternoon when an Ayden ambulance hit a Ford Explorer near the Forlines Road intersection.

Three members of Ayden Rescue and EMS, the man they were transporting and the Explorer’s driver were transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital following the noontime wreck.

Sgt. Tony Smith with the Winterville Police Department said charges are pending against the ambulance driver, Janice Brook.
