Okla. medic builds wheelchair ramp for former patient

The medic noticed that she had no way to get out of her house in an emergency

OKLAHOMA CITY — A medic helped build a former patient a wheelchair ramp after her insurance wouldn’t cover it.

Newson6 reported that medic Harrison Walker responded to a call at Charisse Paul’s house, and noticed that she had no way to get out of her house in an emergency. She said her landlord offered to build one, but only if she paid $600, according to the report.

“I asked her what she would do if there was a fire, and she said I’d just drive out onto the porch, and I didn’t find that acceptable. So I couldn’t sleep safe at night knowing that she can’t sleep safe at night,” Walker said.

Walker and several of his coworkers donated money and offered to help build the ramp, according to the report.
