DUBUQUE, Iowa — An ambulance service recently posted an inspirational story a fallen EMT had once shared about a certain call that reminded him why he loved his job.
In a Facebook post, Paramount Ambulance remembered Steve Warner, who was killed in an ambulance crash on April 27.
The post included a story about a pediatric call that Warner said was an example of why he loved working as an EMT.
“After serving 8 years in the army, I wanted to continue doing work in a career field that makes a difference,” Warner said. “As an EMT, I know that on each call, I am making a difference in someone’s life. One call that stands out in my mind was during a transport of a pediatric patient to Iowa City. When we got to his room at the University of Iowa Hospital, we brought him over to the window. The look on his face when he looked out and saw the Hawkeyes facing off against Penn State was priceless. It made me feel good that we were getting him the help he needed and putting a smile on his face all at the same time. This is why I enjoy working at Paramount. “
“On this day, and every day, Team Paramount will forever remember our Angel in Blue!” Paramount Ambulance said in the post.
