1 dead, 7 injured in Minn. school bus crash

A driver is dead after his car collided with a school bus on I-90 near Wells

WELLS, Minn. — One person has died and seven were injured in a crash Saturday night between a car and a school bus on Interstate 90 south of Wells.

Mark Alan Tigner, 55, of Brandon, South Dakota, was reportedly driving a 2006 Ford Mustang and died at the scene, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities stated Tigner was traveling westbound on I-90 and a 2016 ICRP school bus carrying nine people was traveling eastbound when the vehicles collided at about 8:42 p.m. Additional information about how the crash occurred has not yet been released.

The State Patrol indicates the driver of the bus, Charles Edward Cone, 79, of Waseca, and one other passenger, Kelsey Jo Kahnke, 24, of Waseca, were not injured.

Seven others on the bus, also from Waseca, were injured: Madelynn Leann Benzick, 14; Madison Leigh Corder-Broughten, 15; Makya Jo Donovan, 14; Avery Elaine Gaul, 14; Emily Myrna Mumme, 14; Kalea Jewel Sartori, 16; and Audriamma Lynn Willingham, 14.

The young women were all taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening.

The report states the Wells Ambulance, Wells Fire Department, Kiester Ambulance, Kiester Fire Department, Bricelyn Ambulance, Bricelyn Fire Department, Wells Police Department and Faribault County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
